Counselling
services
St.
Francis Health Care counselling department offers
both counselling services at the centre and client’s
homes.
The
centre provides pre-test and post counselling,
offers bereavement and on going counselling to
clients.
The
department believes in the following principals;
i)
that counselling is an important form of health
care service.
ii)
that counselling enables the client to identify
an appropriate practical approach to apply in
solving problems.
iii)
that counselling empowers the client to take an
informed decision.
Counselling
therefore aims at making the individual or group
to consider prevention of HIV infections and helps
them to live positively with Aids hence behaviour
change.
The
counselling department links up with the music,
dance and drama group in the community awareness
and sensitisation campaigns for effective impact.
Among
other activities addressed by the counsellors
are; general health education talks, good hygiene,
balances diet, proper condom use, the risks involved
in having multiple sexual partners and early seeking
of treatment behaviour in respect of HIV/AIDS
management.
